25 years ago the first preview of a show that quickly became one of Broadway’s top shows hit the New York Theatre Workshop. Sadly that also means we lost the creator of such show. He never got to see his creation touch so many hearts. During the first preview at the Workshop, the idea was just to have friends & family in the audience and the cast would just sing the songs but not act it out. This lasted till La Vie Boheme and everyone was dancing and singing. By Act 2, the cast acted out the rest of the show. At the end, after all the applause were done and everyone sat in silence until someone yelled out ‘Thank you Jonathan Larson’.

Jonathan Larson wrote a masterpiece. Rent to this day, is still talked about, listened to and performed 25 years later.

I got the pleasure to see Rent twice on Broadway and once in a national Tour which featured Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal reprising their iconic roles as Mark and Roger. The words ‘No Day but Today’ ring true in my heart. As well as many other Rentheads. It is truly a shame, Jonathan never got to see the phenomenon Rent has become.

… Thank you Jonathan Larson.
